Colchester Castle’s magical grotto is back for 2023! Together with his helpers, Father Christmas will be spreading plenty of Christmas cheer this December by meeting the children of Colchester and giving out plenty of festive gifts.

Each slot lasts approximately 10 minutes.

Our grotto is suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

We like to keep our magical grotto a surprise, but we appreciate some visitors need to know exactly what to expect for an enjoyable time on the day. The grotto will be created at the start of December. If a member of your party has a sensory impairment and would benefit from familiarising themselves with the space before visiting, please email museums@colchester.gov.uk after booking, and we can share photographs.
