About this Event

Ancient Egypt, 55AD. The Emperor Nero has been invited to Egypt to attend Queen Cleopatra’s Annual Festival of Drunkenness. He’s also hoping to marry her. What he’s not counting on is devilish plot that’s been cooked up by Cleopatra’s High Priest, and her apparently chaste Lady-in-Waiting…

So begins a spectacular sequence of backstabbings and double-crosses played out against a backdrop of passion, poison, and pyramids. Set within the dramatic surroundings of Colchester Castle, the largest Norman keep in Europe, this immersive event promises a night to remember.

The event will be held on 19 September, with the doors opening at 7:30 PM, and the mystery unfolds at 8.15 PM. Please note that late entry will not be permitted.

Guests will be welcomed with a glass of fizz and light nibbles. A licensed bar will be open throughout the evening for additional purchases. Feel free to don Egyptian garb or simply bring your sharpest detective instincts – you’ll need them.

This is an 18+ standing event with limited seating. Please contact the Castle in advance if you have any access needs or dietary restrictions.

For more details, including the evening’s schedule, directions, and accessibility information, please see our Murder Mystery FAQs and Access at the Castle pages.
