About this Event

Father Christmas returns to Colchester Castle this December with special Grotto sessions for nursery and preschool groups.

Designed for children aged five and under, these small-group visits give young children time to meet Father Christmas in a welcoming setting. Alongside their visit, children will enjoy festive storytelling, seasonal songs and hands-on activities led by Father Christmas’s helpers.

“Seeing the children (including those with extra needs) have so much fun was lovely and an amazing experience.“

Each session lasts around 45 minutes, and nursery groups must stay with their group leaders throughout. Start times can be arranged when booking.

Sessions are available on:

+  Tuesday 8 December 2026 (afternoon only)
