History, Science and Nature
About this Exhibition
From early humans to contemporary fashion designers, people have used natural materials to create clothing throughout history. This exhibition looks at four commonly used natural materials; feather, cotton, silk and skin. Museum objects help to explore the physical properties of silk, the impact of cotton production, the history of skins as clothing, and the social revolution that ended the Victorian feather trade.
