Begin your visit by exploring hidden parts of Colchester Castle as a guide takes you back in time to unlock the secrets of the past. Your group will work together during engaging, hands-on activity sessions and learn about the lives of people who lived in Colchester, comparing their experiences with life today. There’s also the chance to test your knowledge with a fun and interactive quiz and to get hands-on with history by holding real objects from the past.

Explore the Galleries

You’ll also have time to explore the museum galleries during your visit. Exciting new displays, interactive exhibits, and gallery trails will help pupils of all ages investigate key themes. Interactive features include our Iron Age and Roman villa areas with handling objects. Pupils can enjoy a ride on the chariot simulator, look inside the Castle model to imagine what it may have been like as a lived-in space and work as a team to construct a medieval arch.

As night falls, your group will settle in for the night surrounded by over 2,000 years of history. In the morning, a cold light breakfast will be provided. Dietary requirements can be discussed at the time of booking.
